Idiot Savant / Erudite Imbeciles

this is the dictionary definition of idiot savant: (click the title for more info on them)

"Person who is mentally retarded in general but who displays remarkable aptitude in some limited field (usually involving memory)"

many films and documentaries in Discovery Channel feature Idiot Savant: those amazing people who seem mentally retarded but may be either really good in observation, memory, calculations, and artworks. Forrest Gump would be one of the most popular. With really low IQ, he is good in many fields especially in sports, which make him appear like a learned man. In the movie Rain Man, Dustin Hoffman played an idiot savant... a retarded guy, but has astounding arithmetic and observation skills.

taken the phrase literally, as the oxymoron suggests, these people are idiots (A person of subnormal intelligence) but savants (Someone who has been admitted to membership in a scholarly field). We may call them idiot savants, erudite imbeciles, intellectual morons, or learned cretins. In my perspective, this term is not limited to those with talented people with low IQ, but also to erudite persons who make stupid decisions. even the people with the most profound knowledge can be idiots in their own right. we are not stupid, but we still commit stupid mistakes. why? because of rashness, the lack of prudence. because of not using our faculty of thinking as we should. because we give in to stupidity. because of love.

*** and then I'd go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you" ***

Love is never a mistake... no matter how much it hurts you... no matter how much it defeats all possible reasoning... Even if it takes your very life... Even if every one including you may not understand it's very purpose in life... It can never be a mistake

i totally agree. true love is never a mistake. loving someone is not a mistake even if it hurts you. if it is a mistake, it is not love. the situation can be a mistake. the person loved can be a mistake. but loving will never be the mistake, and will never be a mistake. and... not loving could be a mistake.

philosophically and psychologically, is this really just a product of the human mind? the human psyche?

are we prisoners of this "invention"? are we not free in our own free will?

quoting from Bob Ong: bakit ang dami kong tanong? ano ang problema ko?

you know what yomz? tama ka diyan. may mga tao na kahit matalino nabobobo sa love. especially if they've spent most of their lives just reading about it, through rose colored lenses.

love is not a mistake in fact it's probably one of the most beautiful things that you'll ever experience kaya nga nakakalungot isipin na not all lovestories last. patitikimin ka ng sobrang saya tapos syet biglang whapak, in the end para ka din madudurog sa sakit.

love is an act of the will, and it does involve reason. pero kung tatratuhin mo ang love na tipong sumasagot ka ng calculus problem, what's the point. i think what makes it so beautiful is that it lets you do things so crazy, so completely out of character which makes you a better person in the end.

hay. i don't know if i'm making sense kasi right now naguguluhan din ako, pero what i'm trying to say is, being idiot savant cherfer isinevitable when you do fall in love. kaya nga fall di ba? sino ba nag fo fall? di ba mga idiot?

huwat????????????!!!!!!!!!!!???????

to li'l sis:

yep. tama ka. though it's primarily an act of the will, there should still be reason involved. problema, usually, will lang ang nasusunod, hindi naga-guide ng reason as it should be, so we make mistakes. im not saying loving is a mistake, as ive said earlier, it is never a mistake, but not loving could be one of the most fatal errors a person can commit.

lahat ng tao naguguluhan, and that what makes life interesting... though we get hurt, we learn, we experience new things, we love, we live... di ko na rin alam kung may sense pa ang ginagawa ko kasi inaantok na ko. gawa pa ko ads. hehe. san na bago mong thought wastebasket?
